At around 4:30 pm on December 30, 2023, Mr. Xue, a tourist from Chengdu, visited Dawa Mountain National Wetland Park in Yongsheng Township, Jinkouhe District. While passing through Xiaotianchi to Lu'erping, he encountered a wild giant panda strolling on the road. When the vehicle approaches, it calmly enters the mountains and then disappears into the bamboo forest.

It is reported that this is the second time wild panda have been discovered in Jinkouhe after the first sighting in 2020 in the Jinkouhe August Forest Nature Reserve.

Dawa Mountain National Wetland Park

The Dawa Mountain National Wetland Park is located in Yongsheng Township, Jinkouhe District, with an average altitude of over 2000 meters. It is composed of five natural high mountain lakes connected to the foot of Dawa Mountain, including Datianchi, Ganchi, Xiaotianchi, Sorghum Pond, and Fish Pond. With an area of 2160 hectares, it is known as the "Three Wonders of Sichuan" along with Wawu Mountain and Emei Mountain.

According to local staff, the Dawa Mountain National Wetland Park has lush vegetation and high forest coverage.  Pandas, red pandas, black bears... These rare wild animals live in the mountains and forests, and they occasionally come to the roadside to meet tourists.
