Don’t want to battle the holiday crowds? Then head to Jiayang and take a ride on the little train. During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, the globe amaranth and zinnias at Caiziba are in full bloom — pink, purple, and red covering the hillsides, with the flowers lasting until the end of the holiday. The C-shaped curve is a perfect photo spot: when the whistle blows, the green train slowly rounds the bend out of the sea of flowers. At Liangshuituo, on a sunny day, you might even catch a rainbow rising from the steam. After the flower fields, wander through the old mining area in Bajiaogou, go down into Huangcun Well to experience a miner’s daily life, and then enjoy a Jiayang small hot pot. This autumn, hop on the little train and take it slow.
